Weekend Workshops

All That Glitters

Is the picture shown left ivory or plastic?

You will learn to tell the difference between many materials commonly used in antique, collectible, and reproduction jewelry with just a few simple tests.

We will also look at easy ways to tell if a piece is gold, silver, platinum, or one of it's many immitators.

Jewelry by the Decades

Designed to focus on one era, this class presents history, fashion, and jewelry from one of the following:

Victorian Jewelry: 1837 to 1901

The Aesthetic Movement through Art Deco: 1880 to 1940

Moderne and Retro Jewelry: 1940 to 1970

The Do-It-Yourself Roadshow

Have you ever wondered how those television appraisers know so much?

This is a hands-on work shop where you learn basic identification tips that will make it easier for you to know if it's really antique.

We talk about furniture, ceramics, glass, silver, and paper. Then we break into groups as you help your fellow sleuths identify your own antiques!

An 80-page workbook is included with your class fee.
